The Cooper County Public Health Center would like to address some misinformation that is circulating within the community.

Regarding the public concentrated animal feeding operation (CAFO) meeting to be held Thursday night at the health center at 6:00pm. There is NOT an ordinance under consideration for CAFO regulation. On February 6th, 2018 Melanie Hutton administrator and public health officer proposed a moratorium to allow for discussion, education and consideration of large CAFO’s. It has come to my attention that Cooper County already has a comparable size CAFO that has been in operation since 2012. Therefore, on Thursday February 15, 2018 I will officially withdraw my request for the moratorium to the health board.
