For Immediate Release
On May 19th, 2020 and May 20th, 2020, the Cooper County Public Health Center distributed guidance on the re-opening of the County. This guidance was created and approved by the County of Cooper Emergency Management Agency, the Cooper County Commissioners and the Cooper County Public Health Department. The document is called The Way Ahead. The document contains recommendations for the re-opening of businesses, events, schools, sports etc. During this time, we were also under Phase I of re-opening. As of today, the State of Missouri remains under Phase 1. The recommendations remain appropriate for Phase 1 of recovery during this pandemic and were created from recommendations from the State of Missouri and the Federal Government.
The Cooper County Public Health Center has not issued any other guidance or orders. There are some serious rumors circulating that the Health Center is not allowing banks to open, closing restaurants and preventing sporting events to occur (including recruitment for summer leagues). These rumors are false, and the staff of the Cooper County Public Health Center are working hard to help the community resume routine activities and business while reducing the exposure to covid.
The Way Ahead document can be located on the office website www.coopercountypublichealth.com under public notices and the County of Cooper website www.coopercountymo.gov . For questions or concerns please do not hesitate to call our office and talk to the Administrator Melanie Hutton at 660-882-2626.
